[The following Historical Sketch is from the 1959 Guide to the Orlando Air Force Base, Florida. Armed Forces Directory Service; Eugene, Oregon.]

ORLANDO Air Force Base has been an integral part of the Central Florida community since August, 1940, when the first troops rolled in by truck convoy. At that time the municipal airport was taken over by the Army Air Corps and vast construction programs were begun.

Rudolph C. de Guehery opened his rubber stamp business in 1939 in the O'Neal Arcade at 120 North Orange Avenue in downtown Orlando. The business then moved to this photographed location (105 North Garland Avenue) around 1950. Currently located at 64 West Robinson Street (since 1962), the de Guehery family buisness was recently renamed Orlando Rubber Stamp and Sign Company and, has been owned and operated by the de Guehery family for over 75 years.

Circus World opended in 1974 and closed in 1986. What appeared to be a 'Big Top' circus tent was in fact a building designed with that intent.

Visitors to central Florida in the 1970s and 1980s could enjoy this circus showcase. This wonderful but short lived theme park was located at the intersection of I-4 and U. S. Highway 27 in Haines City. Circus World opened in 1974, closed in 1986.

Traveling west out of Orlando on I-4, drivers in the late 1970s / early 1980s saw this billboard advertising what was a wonderful but short lived theme park that was located at the intersection of the Interstate with U. S. Highway 27 in Haines City, FL. Circus World opened in 1974, closed in 1986.

The downtown Panera Bread restaurant closed their doors on Tuesday, April 24, 2017 at 5 P.M.

I have great memories of lunches there with coworkers, friends, and family. The place seemed to always be popular; service was great; the staff were prompt, courteous, and helpful; the food was delicious. My favorites were their Tortellini Alfredo and the Broccoli Cheddar soup. Loved dipping the bread in that soup!
